Boundries are a construct, sometimes without form or definitive concept, Look at how Marcel Duschamp redefined art as an artist or how chef Ferran Adria has culinarily challenged the traditional concept of creative cooking going outside the boundries to widen our view on such a basic necessity as eating. “How could you wear such a thing?” A question put to me daily whether it be made vocal or through people staring on the street…Personally for me, it’s not a question of being seen, just being myself. Fashion is as huge as the question that I’ll be toying with in short visual and textual articles from time to time. ‘Is fashion fashion?’
Why stop at traditional streetwear for trends? why not take advantage of the wealth of design possibilities which have been made available over the years? Whether it be sculptural, illustrative, industrial or simply different. I recently bought an old telephone cable, one of the old fashioned curly ones to use as necklace, bracelet, belt, laces, keyring thing or whatever and just this morning I stumbled upon ‘bond hardware‘ an interesting, modern approach to jewellery taking advantage of the resurgence of the shirt collar buttoned to the top. How long will bond hardware last before being thrown into the cruel circle of the fashionable, unfashionable & subsequently kitch…or have they already surpassed the test by merging all three in one?
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you…’BOND HARDWARE‘ check out their facebook page for some awesome pictures
